Swedish massage is a Western tradition designed to increase circulation and stimulate the venous return of blood and lymph to the heart. Techniques are focused on relaxation with a continuous and rhythmic flow. The pressure applied during hands-on time ranges from light to medium. Techniques include:

  • Effleurage (sliding or gliding)
  • Petrissage (kneading)
  • Tapotement (rhythmic tapping)
  • Vibration (shaking)
  • Friction

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a Swedish-based massage leading up to the application and focus of more pressure, with the use of fingers and elbows. The level of force applied depends on the preference of the client and the pliability of the tissues. According to the needs of the person, time may be concentrated in specific areas. However, please be aware that the pressure is not deep throughout the entire session and treatment of a specific area or issue may be limited to thirty minutes.

Foot Reflexology

The application of on-and-off pressure tracing the feet, alternated with relaxing techniques. The theory behind reflexology is based on a system of zones that reflect a map of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that pressure reflexively affects a physical change by interrupting the sensation of pain signals to the brain.

Zen Facial Massage

A rejuvenating massage consisting of acupressure and small repetitive movements on the face, scalp, occiput, neck, and shoulders, based on Chinese Medicine, that treats tension in the face as well as headaches, TMJ pain, and/or neck pain.
